FAQ Jefferson County Gives

  • What is Jefferson County Gives Giving Day?

 Jefferson County Gives is a countywide giving event which will be held March 19, 2026. On this day we will encourage area residents, friends of area organizations and anyone interested to donate to the organizations of their choice during a countywide giving event. 

  • What are the Goals for 2026? 

Our goal is to establish a countywide giving event to support Jefferson County nonprofit organizations in reaching their project goals.

  • How do I register my nonprofit? 

You may visit JeffersonCountyGives.com/participants and download a participant form or pick up a printed form at the Fairbury Public Library. Follow the instructions as noted. 

  • Does my nonprofit have to be a 501(c)3? 

No, but please review the organizational affirmations on the participant form to determine if your nonprofit qualifies for participation.

  • How do I donate? 

Donations may be made during the 24 hour giving event to be held on March 19, 2026.  Donations may be made online or in person. In-person donations may be made at sites throughout the county.  

Donations may also be mailed to Jefferson County Gives, 108 Sunburst Dr., Fairbury, NE  68352. Please download the Jefferson County Gives Offline Donation Form to include with your mailed-in gift.

  • When will the nonprofit be notified of my donation?  

A nonprofit will receive notice of your online donations in real-time and offline donations (check or cash) as they are logged. They will also have access to a full donation report during and after the Jefferson County Gives event. 

You have the option to give anonymously (online or offline). If you choose to give anonymously, you will receive a tax receipt but the nonprofit will not have your name or contact information.

  • How do I get my tax receipt?  

Your online gift tax receipt will be e-mailed to you immediately upon successful processing of your donation.

If you misplace your receipt, you can come back to JeffersonCountyGives.com anytime after May 31, 2026 and enter your email to receive a new receipt. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. tax return, please retain your email donation receipt as your official record. 

For offline gifts via check or cash, Jefferson County Gives will mail a tax receipt to you.

  • Why is my gift made to the Fairbury Civic Foundation?

The Fairbury Civic Foundation serves as the collection agent for Jefferson County Gives. This partnership allows gifts to be claimed as tax deductible charitable donations (as allowed by the IRS.) 

  • Is there a minimum donation?

Yes, there is a minimum $10 donation.

  • Why are organizations located outside of Jefferson County included in the Giving Day?

All organizations accepted as participants have committed to using dollars raised through Jefferson County Gives for projects and services in Jefferson County.
