Girls Adventure Camp

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

We support local groups when possible, but certain services and entertainment are becoming more and more expensive to obtain and bring in to our camp. We are reaching out to our community for more monetary support to offset our expenses and continue to bring quality entertainment and experiences for our campers.  We often bring in events that can cost us $2,000-$4,000.

This year we are offering camel rides to go along with our Ancient Egyptian theme, themed entertainers and supplies for crafts.

Mission

Our 4-day camp provides an environment for girls to grow and learn in the areas of citizenship, social integration, personal development and exploring capabilities. In a safe environment, the girls learn to gain independence and take risks.

Profile

Girls Adventure Camp started many years ago as a local Girl Scout Camp. With troop numbers dwindling, we opted to open up the camp to all area girls. We now have over 110 campers that come from area counties and even Kansas.

This year's camp is June 15-18 and takes place at Camp Jefferson, south of Fairbury.

This camp is important, as it allows girls an opportunity to get out and socialize with peers outside their normal groups and challenges them in a variety of ways. They learn new skills and provide help to other girls outside their age groups.
